Thank goodness today was the weekend. Being I'm only on the 2nd day, I've already noticed the changes from the fast but they weren't significant enough to want me to stop. A little fatigue, and at times hungry, but I just thought to myself, This is good for me, detoxifying and losing weight, pumping myself with nutrients. Health comes first from now on, and I wasn't going to let anything get in my way. I took a trip with my brother to Santa Cruz to go fishing, my favorite recreational activity. I wasn't able to make the full 80-120oz of Juice, so I had to stop and buy a few cans of V* 100% Vegetable juice. By the end of the day I made more Mean Green (Cucumbers, Kale, Celery, Ginger, Granny Apples, Lemon) , I'm starting to really like this drink. It was a great day, was able to relax and enjoy a day out, it kept me from thinking too much about the Juicing, but then again, I think I'm already starting to like it.
Mean Green
6 kale leaves
1 cucumber
4 celery stalks
2 granny apples
1/2 lemon
1 piece of ginger
I'm starting this fast tomorrow (Monday, the 18th), though probably only for 40 days. Good luck! We'll need it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my main comment was about how you bought V8. I've been wondering about that - I made some sample Mean Green and other juice batches with the juicer, and actually making enough for a daily quantity of 80-plus ounces would take a long time and be pretty expensive. So I'm also supplementing with V8, along with small amounts of some 100% juice blends I got at Costco. I haven't seen anyone else mention doing this, and I'm guessing there's something that will be frowned upon, even with the low-sodium V8. But I can't imagine what it is. Any ideas? -Antonio
Hi Antonio thanks for reading my blog post, and that's awesome that your start this fast tommorow, good luck! I'm still learning new things about this fast each day, and it has definately been a process for me, but a rewarding one! I will have to say that I made the mistake of buying V8 because although it says 100% Vegetable juice it is high in sodium, and we also want to try to steer clear of any acidic vegetables. A good friend of mine, has mentioned this to me and he has fasted before as well. Tomatoes are high in acid. Basically all the ingredients in the Mean Green are non acidic veggies, which are better. If you suffer from heart burn or acid reflux, the V8 isn't a good choice, and I know this because after I did drink a few cans of the V8 I was getting a little heartburn, not good. I would say if you really have to, you could do the V8 and see how it goes, supplementing with 100% fruit Juice, like you mention.but also keep in mind of the added ingredients they put into them, you want to try to keep it as pure as possible, no added ingredients or altertations. But if you can find maybe some Odwalla, that would be preferred. I also found out from my friend that if you are near a Jamba Juice, you can request an all juice drink, none of the powder stuff. All in all I'd say give it a try but try to stick to the Mean Green , or switch it up if you think it's too repetitive. Rebootyourlife.com has a whole list of different yummy recipes, and I may try a few in the future, but for now Mean Green is working well for me. I felt great today, for it being my 3rd day. More energized, clear minded, and I did lose another lb. It's feeling great. And I wish you good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions or comments :)
